Company Releases Automated Solution to Enable Proactive, Enterprise-Wide Enforcement of PC Power Management

MINNEAPOLIS, November 11, 2008 – www.newboundary.com – New Boundary Technologies®, the IT automation innovator, today announced the release of its new Green IT Solution. Powered by Policy Commander® and the company’s unique PwrSmart™ technology, the Green IT Solution automates the enforcement of computer power management to dramatically reduce PC and computer monitor power consumption, energy costs, and environmental impact. The New Boundary Technologies Green IT Solution delivers centralized control of PC power management to IT departments enabling enterprise-wide energy efficiency and cost savings.

Research indicates that more than 100 million workers in the U.S. regularly use PCs on the job, and the majority of them never or only occasionally turn off those computers at the end of the workday. According to U.S. Environmental Protection Agency estimates, the average PC left on all the time uses more than 700 kilowatts-hours of electricity, more than an average refrigerator, and wastes approximately 400 kilowatt-hours by running at full power when not in use. Each year, U.S. companies waste an estimated $4-billion powering computers that are not being used. Proactively managing PC power consumption can cut PC energy costs by 60 percent or more, or up to $350,000 annually for an organization with 5000 PCs. In fact, the potential for energy cost savings by implementing proactive PC power management is one reason Gartner named Green IT as its top strategic technology of 2008.

The Green IT Solution from New Boundary Technologies delivers significant cost savings by automating the implementation and enforcement of power management on Windows® desktops, laptops, and servers. Powered by the company’s Policy Commander® automated policy management product and its innovative PwrSmart™ technology, the solution deploys intelligent power management policies to every computer that administrators choose to manage. It then monitors managed systems and automatically enforces the selected power management profiles and settings, even if end users try to disable or change approved power management settings.

According to the U.S. Department of Energy, only 36 percent of workforce PCs are turned off at the end of the workday. Other research indicates that when PC-based power management functions are enabled, the majority of users will disable them within a few months. To overcome these issues, organizations need a solution that implements PC power management at the network level, and utilizes automation technologies to continuously enforce and maintain power management functions.

“Organizations around the world are realizing that green initiatives not only help the environment by reducing energy waste and emissions, but they help the bottom line by immediately cutting energy costs,” said Tom Diamond, President of New Boundary Technologies. “By automatically enforcing PC power management, our Green IT Solution creates self-monitoring and self-maintaining computing environments that maximize savings with minimal impact on the IT staff. New Boundary Technologies is a leader in reducing total cost of PC ownership, and our Green IT Solution reinforces that leadership position.”

Fostering Donor Relationships Help Minnesota Youths of Color Achieve College Dreams

Rochester, MN October 21, 2008 — http://www.ResultsplusSoftware.com — ResultsPlus, a fundraising software solution from Metafile, is enabling large and small non-profit organizations to automate nearly all mission critical fundraising activities with minimum IT involvement. Page Education Foundation, utilizes ResultsPlus to help Minnesota youth of color realize their college dreams.

Page Education Foundation, located in Minneapolis, Minnesota, is a small, non-profit organization dedicated to the advancement of Minnesota youths of color. By fostering positive attitudes about education and offering financial assistance for college, the foundation has helped send over three thousand students to college in the past 20 years.

Unfortunately, because the foundation was using an antiquated software system that did not have the ability to maintain detailed donor information, they were challenged when it came time to plan and target future fundraising initiatives.

The system Page Education Foundation was using did not even have the capability to provide foundation employees specific information about donor’s interests or to record specific causes donors had contributed to in the past. Without specific donor data, requests for donations and acknowledgement letters, a critical communication which helps the foundation seek support for Minnesota youth interested in attending college, could not be customized to the letter recipients.

“In the non-profit world every last bit of data is important, from donation amounts to spouse’s names and children’s birthdays,” states Mark Gerber Regional Account Manager with Metafile, creator of ResultsPlus fundraising software. “Without this key data, it is very difficult to send out customized acknowledgement letters and nearly impossible to build lasting donor relationships.”

By spending an inordinate amount of time electronically tracking individual donor relationships, rather than working to better target future fundraising initiatives, Page Education Foundation started to see a decline both in donations for programs like the Page Scholarship program and in volunteerism for Service-to-Children Mentoring program. These declines were something that Page Education Foundation and the youth of Minnesota could not afford.

Page Education Foundation selected Metafile’s ResultsPlus to deploy a solution that would foster deep donor relationships and meet the needs of their fundraising goals.

In working with Page Education Foundation, Metafile helped to:
•effectively replace the antiquated database system
•easily access specific information about donors and their families

“It’s hard to believe that just over two years ago when I began working with the Page Foundation, we were developing initiatives based on so little information about our donor base,” states Carolyn Jones, Administrative Director of Page Education Foundation. “Now, each step in our efforts is based on the type of strategy that can only be developed by taking into account as much objective data as possible.”

The implementation of ResultsPlus helped Page Education Foundation not only effectively fundraise for programs and campaigns but also foster deep donor relationships that ultimately enables Minnesota’s youth of color to fulfill college dreams.

Importance of Vibration Testing Not Realized By Large Percentage of Medical Device Packaging Professionals

MINNEAPOLIS –August 12, 2008 — http://www.testedandproven.com/ — DDL, the leading product and package testing services firm specializing in medical device package testing, recently discovered through the company’s July “Vibration Testing Quizzler” that only 46 percent of Medical Device Packaging Professionals truly understand that vibration testing can prevent defective products or packaging from going to market.

In his winning Vibration Testing Quizzler response, David Anderson VP of Research & Development at GT Urological stated, “When there is the slightest chance that any of our medical products will be exposed to a transportation, operation or storage environment, it is vital that we implement vibration testing before going to market.”

The vibration testing quizzler question below received answers from nearly 200 medical device packaging professionals.

Question: Package and product testing should always be expanded to include vibration testing when there is a chance of exposure to what environments?

B2B marketing veteran, formerly of Siebel and Oracle, joins Marketo as strategic advisor

San Mateo, CA – 17 June 2008 – Lead management software firm Marketo today announced the addition of marketing and software-as-a-service (SaaS) veteran Rob Reid to its Board of Advisors. Reid brings to Marketo over 30 years of experience in the enterprise software industry and a track record of catapulting his companies into market leadership positions

With its sophisticated, yet easy-to-use lead management software already setting a new standard in the B2B marketing industry, Marketo will tap Reid’s insight and experience as the company continues to expand its vision.

Most recently, Reid served as Group Vice President, Siebel CRM OnDemand, for Oracle Corporation, where he managed the team responsible for the new industry leading CRM OnDemand solution. He came to Oracle from Siebel, where he was responsible for OnDemand marketing and the IBM strategic relationship. He also served as president and CEO of on-demand CRM innovator UpShot, which grew 10 times in three years under his leadership. Reid’s success at these market leaders, as well his work as CEO at Concur Commerce Network and Seeker Software, Inc., solidified his position as a leader in the SaaS industry.

“The on-demand SaaS model has already transformed the CRM industry, and Marketo is bringing the value of that innovation to the underserved marketing automation segment,” said Reid. “They’re delivering on the promise of SaaS with software that’s unprecedented in its ease-of-use. I’m honored to be a part of their team because I know firsthand the great need marketers have for on-demand tools that are both sophisticated and intuitive.”

Reid’s expertise is also rooted in his role as Vice President at Documentum, Inc., where Reid established the company as the business and technology leader in the Document Management market. He was also the catalyst for the creation of Documentum’s industry focused plans and solutions, including taking Documentum through its “Crossing the Chasm” strategies. These strategies propelled Documentum into being Silicon Valley’s fastest growing software company according to Deloitte & Touche in the early ‘90s.

“Rob is a highly-respected SaaS and marketing luminary, and we’re thrilled that he’ll be providing strategic counsel as we continue to expand our presence in the industry,” said Marketo CEO Phil Fernandez. “We’re transforming the SaaS industry with software that people are actually excited about using because it’s so easy, and we’ll count on Rob’s combination of industry knowledge and marketing expertise to guide us as we continue to deliver on our vision.”

New senior housing development could become one of country’s few LEED-Certified Communities

SHOREVIEW, MN, June 17, 2008 — http://www.ecumen.org – Aging services provider Ecumen, one of the country’s largest non-profit senior housing companies, is developing a green senior housing for North Country Health services in Bemidji, Minn. It is seeking to be one of the country’s few LEED-certified (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) senior housing developments.

The $20 million senior housing development, to be owned by North Country Health Services and developed by Ecumen, is being built using environmentally friendly or “green” features and methods. For example, underground parking will lessen impervious surface space and reduce water use, lighting features will prevent light and energy waste, and many construction materials will be harvested locally.

North Country Health Services and Ecumen plan to submit the project for third-party LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification from the United States Green Building Council.

“Three words stood out as we began to shape this project – mission, vibrancy and sustainability,” said Jim Hanko, president and CEO of North Country Health Services. “The new housing will complement our mission of assuring a lifetime continuum of quality healthcare services, it will be a vibrant community that allows people to live in Bemidji for a lifetime, and it will help sustain natural resources that we all share.”

“This project fully embraces a philosophy that aging is all about living,” said Sandy Bensen, North Country Health Services’ (NCHS) vice president of senior and community living services. “This will be a community that promotes healthy, successful aging and that honors and celebrates a person’s life to its very end.”

Slated for a late-summer groundbreaking, the senior housing development will include independent living apartments, assisted living apartments, and memory care apartments. The link to the NCHS mission is most evident with the “aging in place” concept where older adults can move in not needing any services and as they age, assisted living services are brought to them when they need them and on an ala carte basis. All living spaces will link to Neilson Place, the North Country Health Services skilled nursing care center that opened in 2004. The project is anticipated to open in the fall of 2009.

When completed, the Anne Street site will have more than 148,000 square feet of livable space in two buildings. Eighty catered living apartment homes, which feature independent living and assisted living, will have underground parking. The one-story memory care building will have 27 studio apartments.

Other features will include a library and media center, grand fireplace lounge, commercial kitchen and dining room, two guest motel-like suites, a hair salon and barber shop, community room, fitness room, and outdoor patios and walking paths.

“We’re extremely proud to be working with North Country Health Services and helping make this shared vision become a reality,” said Steve Ordahl, senior vice president of business development for Ecumen.
About North Country Health Services
North Country Health Services (www.nchs.com) is a community-owned, not-for-profit health system comprised of North Country Regional Hospital, Neilson Place, Baker Park, Bemidji Medical Equipment, and the North Country Health Services Foundation.

About Ecumen
Ecumen (www.ecumen.org) is based in Shoreview, Minn., and is one of the largest non-profit senior housing, services and development companies in the United States. The name Ecumen comes from the word ecumenical, which in turn is derived from the Greek word for home: “Oikos.” Ecumen’s mission is to create “home” for older adults wherever they choose to live. Ecumen is affiliated with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) and has 4,000 team members. Ecumen writes about news and ideas that are shaping the future of aging services at its Changing Aging blog: http://www.ecumen.org/changing-aging/

Leading Western Wear Vendor Recognized for Streamlined Order Fulfillment Process and Timely Connections with Retail Trading Partners

Minneapolis, MN - May 28, 2008 – SPS Commerce, the leading provider of SaaS EDI services, today announced that its customer, Arena Brands, has been named to Apparel Magazine’s inaugural Top 50 Innovators list. Named among global retailers and vendors, Arena Brands was recognized for its decision to outsource its EDI to SPS Commerce, benefiting from rapid connections to its trading partners, integration with its Oracle system, and an automated order fulfillment cycle that eliminated days from its delivery.

“We are pleased to be honored by Apparel Magazine and extend our appreciation to SPS Commerce, which has provided Arena with an outsourced EDI service that has exceeded my expectations,” commented Keith Ritchie, Corporate IT Director at Arena Brands Inc. “Using a standardized format to integrate with our Oracle solution, we can quickly add new trading partners without taking time or resources away from other IT projects. While the technology is superior, the best part about partnering with SPS Commerce is their people. By outsourcing to SPS Commerce, Arena has been able to improve our productivity and enhance our supply chain relationships.”

Apparel Magazine announced The Top 50 Innovators in its May 2008 issue.

“SPS Commerce is pleased to congratulate Arena Brands on this impressive distinction,” stated Archie Black, president and CEO of SPS Commerce. “We were honored to be selected by Arena as their EDI outsourcing partner several years ago, offering them a proven, multi-tenant B2B integration solution and experience in meeting the EDI needs of its retail customers. The EDI mappings for Arena’s transactions were already created and in use by these suppliers, to reduce implementation time and improve reliability. They are a pleasure to work with, and we are glad to see the apparel industry formerly recognizing their achievements in innovation.”

The new online tool revolutionizes the AV Industry by offering the ability to visually configure products; build and save parts lists; and specify mounts and accessories!

Minneapolis, MN. - May 2008 – www.chiefmfg.com – Chief Manufacturing, the industry leader in projector, monitor and flat panel TV mounting solutions, is excited to announce the launch of its latest web innovation – the MOUNTBUILDER™ Product Configurator for Projector Mounts, Flat Panel Mounts and Accessories.

“We are often told by customers that we offer so many mount accessories and applications that it’s hard to know which accessories to choose for each application,” said Laurie Englert, Director of Marketing. “With the goal of making this easier for the customer, the team went to work and came up with this incredible concept. We’ve shown it to customers and they are thrilled to get a visual tool of the many different options.”

MOUNTBUILDER is an online tool that will revolutionize the way mounts are selected and specified. Users go to the Chief website and walk through a logical sequence of steps for building a mount configuration that visually appears before them on their computer screen. Drop distance and weight capacity are automatically calculated as parts are added. A parts list is also generated, with the ability to edit parts and quantities. The tool allows users to log in and create a password so they can save configurations for proposals or future jobs.

Key Features of MOUNTBUILDER:

Visually builds an installation

Builds a parts list

Auto-calculates weight capacity and drop distance

Saves configurations for future use

Creates a PDF with image for proposals

Includes Chief’s Easy Bid Spec Form

The Chief Web Development team created MOUNTBUILDER in an effort to further ease product selection, bids and ordering for Chief customers. The 8-month development cycle was challenging, but also exciting for the team.

Historically, Chief leads the industry with innovative tools, including its popular MountFinder™ Manufacturers Cross Reference Database that is updated daily and has the largest selection of flat panels and projectors in the industry.

MOUNTBUILDER currently offers a selection of Projector Mount configurations. Future phases will include modules for flat panel wall mounts; Carts and Stands; Monitors and Totally Custom Solutions. User testing concluded the week of May 19th, with the launch planned for the end of May. The URL to access the site will be www.mountbuilder.com.

Build Winning Combinations with MOUNTBUILDER at this year’s InfoComm 2008, Booth C1224.

The joint solution pre-wires TRAVERSE users to SPS’ network of over 1200 retailer trading partners.

“This solution enables our TRAVERSE customers to quickly and easily communicate important documents to their customers, suppliers, third party logistics providers, and sourcing agents,” said Open Systems VP of Sales Paul Lundquist. “They can send and receive purchase orders, invoices, advance ship notices and other electronic documents directly from within their TRAVERSE application. Using the ‘multi-tenant’ Software-as-a-Service model, our users save time and reduce costs by leveraging SPS’ specialized expertise, infrastructure and existing maps.”

“We are very pleased to partner with Open Systems as a part of our SPS Ecosystem community,” said Archie Black, President and CEO of SPS Commerce. “By teaming SPS’ on-demand B2B integration with their industry-leading TRAVERSE accounting and business solution, mid-sized organizations can benefit from a more streamlined and hands-free approach to communicating necessary order, shipping and billing information with their trading partners.”
